Equ-wet-strians?

Just under two weeks ago a drought was officially declared here in the South East of England, with many other areas deemed 'at risk' - in fact, it has been heralded as the worst drought here in 30 years.

Despite having studied environmental science for nearly four years I still find it bizarre when this happens, still subconsciously associating 'drought' with barren, desert landscapes, not our still-lush and green farmlands and woodlands. The evidence is everywhere, though, if you know where to look, but so far, unlike so many other places in the world, we always seem to bounce back eventually.

I was very pleased this morning to see that the much-needed rain had arrived as forecast... until I remembered we had horseriding!
