Dunfermline Abbey

Originally built in the 12th Century.
Badly neglected after the Reformation. Eventually, the right-hand tower fell down.

It was during the renovations and rebuilding work in the 19th Century that the grave of Robert the Bruce was discovered under the altar.

Use of embiggification will be repaid with a more detailed view of the Norman carvings round the door ;)

We came across early and had a wee wander round the touristy bits of town, before meeting Colin in the pub, with Parsfan and Mike... then back to Leith and a pizza with Mrs Parsfan. A really good day of meeting friends, with only the football to spoil it (as usual). :^/
