Mystery Bird

I had 2 great choices for something to watch this afternoon. In front of me were pelicans "fishing." In back of me was a lawn filled with bocce ball players. I chose the pelicans, although I did take 6-8 shots of the bocce rollers. It was funny to see the difference between the regulars and the tourists. The tourists were dressed like me. Shorts and some kind of Florida fish shirt. (Mine was yellow today.) The regulars were dressed in white from head to toe. White shoes, socks, pants, shirt, and topped off with a white hat. Made me want to hum the theme song to the Lone Ranger, and yell..."HI-YOOO SILVER...AWAY!!!" I didn't because I didn't want to mess up any of the bocce throws.

Back to the pelicans. I probably took 250 shots, and got 5-6 good ones. Too light, too dark, missed the entry, bad background. All sorts of excuses.

I was concentrating on 5-6 pelicans when a clatter arose. I thought maybe somebody had a great bocce, but no...a whole flock of something came flying in. For a minute or two...it was mayhem. The mystery birds, the pelicans, and the seagulls just going nuts. Then...as quick as it started...BOOM!...they were gone.

I put a blow-up of the mystery bird in the right hand corner. It dove like a cormorant, but I couldn't find any info on it, or a picture. Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure to look at in in LARGE. There is one poor pelican in the lower left that doesn't know what to do. It looks like he is opening his mouth for a bite of mystery bird.
