Enterprising mallard

Sunny this morning first thing but it didn't last. Volunteering at RSPB Lochwinnoch again. We were shoring up the new path at the Barr Loch. A particularly high level of water from the loch rose and destroyed the edge. We were driving in stakes and attaching a plank of wood, then digging up divots to put against it to try and stop the water penetrating onto path again, in the rain of course.

The smew on the Barr Loch was making advances to the female goldeneye duck and the mallards were fighting each other to chase the female mallards. Spring is definitely in the air.

This mallard was being enterprising. He was at the foot of the feeders and constantly stretching and looking up to see if the great tits and blue tits were dropping any crumbs on the ground.
