Set Them Free, At the Break of Dawn

Not quite the break of dawn, more mid afternoon, and not 99, but nearer 1,500.

This was another event raising funds for Vanessa, or Wee V as she is becoming known. Six weeks ago, her parents launched an appeal after discovering the neuroblastoma which they thought she had beaten had made an unwanted come back.£500,000 was needed to get her to America; there is no relapse treatment inthe UK.

What has happened in the last 6 weeks has been amazing, heart warming, and inspiring. At first the local community, but now the nation has come together, and the fund currently stands at £471K. There are funds to be added from various bag packing, and social events over the weekend, and there are still fund raising events taking place well into April.

This Balloon release took place in Ayr, in front of the County Buildings, and Wee V turned up to let the balloons go along with her Mum, her Dad and supporters. Seeing just how little she looks, makes you realise why everyone is doing this, and when she smiles - the whole place lights up!

But Please Remember, Wee V, is not the only child suffering a relapse of Neuroblastoma, there are hundreds of children in the UK suffering with cancers for which there is no guaranteed cure. We need solutions, and investment in research from the Government for a cure.
