Nuthatch

A cloudy day didn't keep the kids indoors. I know it's good that they want to play out all the time - but it's nice to have some company occasionally! Did manage to drag them out to the market for a quick wander. Finally managed to catch the man who sells material - and had a nice chat with him (he'd been in Oxford for a while - where I used to live - so we chatted about that a bit). I bought some material to make a tablecloth out of, but it's not red wine coloured so will be ruined the first time we use it - Mr B not being known for his pouring accuracy from the second bottle of wine onwards. He (the material man) says he can get me cotton muslin from April onwards. I didn't know it had a season... So that's the curtains sorted.

The afternoon was mainly cooking and making limoncello, then watching a real nail-biter of a rugby match with Conor (England - Wales). Actually, I should call it a shrieker rather than a nail-biter, given how many times Conor asked me to shut up. The end (disputed try in the final seconds - no try so England lost) was quite traumatic, resulting in more rugby tears from Conor. Perhaps I should let him just go ahead and support Spain in everything - this balancing support for Scotland and England seems emotionally unwise. (He is convinced that if he supports Spain he'll have more chance of living his dream and playing in goal for Barcelona. Do Spain play rugby?)

Mr B sets off for home tomorrow, so we'll see him late on Monday, but friends are coming over from Castres tomorrow so I will have a sociable day. Like this nuthatch, who was making nice with the other birds today. The arrival of the bullying blackcap seems to have improved the behaviour of this former bully.
