11pm on whim lets try Oil and Water for the first
Yes, I am still alive... I have a bucket load of backblips I have images for... the more I pile up though the, the less likely it is I will do them at any one given time!
Didnt come out great but provided me with the motivation to try it again properly...
Ingredients
- Glass bowl (unfortunately with pyrex in big letters and other annoying stuff on the bottom)
- 2 little chests of draws in my office to balance the bowl between.
- A lamp
- One of my Tulips in the dark shots on a greeting card to put below to get colors in (you can actually see the picture in a lot of the bubble)
- Tripod... I abandoned this for this shoot because it was hard to get it in the right position to focus.
Lessons learned...
- It would be MUCH easier with a macro lens. Trying to stand on tiptoes to get far enough away to focus while leaning forwards over a bowl full of waterdoesnt exactly help stable shots... or your back.
- A better setup than between two chests of draws against the wall with a 5x7 greeting card below would yield much better results.
- A bigger colored thing underneath or a closer color thing underneath, so the images lensed in the bubble doesnt have edges.
- A more featureless glass bowl... lettering and lines and patterns on the glass take away from the abstract nature of the image... plus they just look crap and are difficult to crop out.
- More light... f/1.8 and a low shutter spped make focusing difficult.
Some of these and other unmentioned issues I can solve at the moment some, such as the macro lens, arent going to happen at the moment.
I shall play with again soon hopefully...
