The Message
Late home last night, after going to Darlington Civic Theatre to see 'Save the last Dance.' Non stop music from the sixties era along with a young energetic cast, made for a great show.
Then work today.Didn't feel inclined to Blip another bag design, so took a few quick shots of our miniature Iris in the rockery when I got home.Yesterday there were only two heads open, whereas tonight, there were clumps of them waving in the wind.Such beautiful little things.Unfortunatley. the light was already fading, so picture quality suffered.Had a play around with one of the pics and settled for this.
For many years we had large bearded Iris growing in the garden of our last home. They never failed to please. When we had double glazing installed, I found a company who would actually customise stained glass panels for either side of our front door. What kind of design to use?I plumped for Iris and set to sketching my ideas for the glass.Although I say it myself, the finished design was a talking point for all who passed by.When completed, the colours in the glass were stunning, especially in the sunlight. We even found a local glazing company surreptitiously taking pictures of the windows and later. Iris designs, similar to ours ,started springing up around the town.
When we moved here, the old tubers came with us and so, they continue to please but we have since added more varieties in other colours such as lemon, white and our latest aquisition is a black one.
In Greek, Iris has two meanings: that of the goddess Iris and that of "rainbow." The Greeks say that the goddess Iris leads the souls of women to Heaven over a rainbow bridge. Often people offer Iris flowers when women die. To some, the meaning of Iris is "message."
