The Wren

Hidden gem

It was supposed to be yoga this morning but I awoke rather tardily and missed it! The dogs were happy though because it meant an earlier walk.

Yet another grey day so I quickly put the camera underneath some snowdrops in my heather garden and then set off. Yesterday I had been thinking of blipping a Danish pastry for my "D" entry but thanks to Bruce's dinner yesterday I was saved from adding another 1lb to the weight I am still trying to shed following the trip to Vegas. So I didn't make a detour past the baker's and set off up the hill. I took a few offerings early in the walk but then Bruce curtailed things by disappearing underneath a large conifer for ages. Cara had joined him but then returned to the whistle. Not so Bruce. I eventually unearthed him - literally - from yet another deep rabbit hole, put him on the lead and returned to the car in the vain hope that he might associate a walk back in shame with his disobedience. I can dream - he is a spaniel after all!

Once home I realised I had a dearth of photos, so put them on the PC to see what I could salvage.... and I found this wee gem. Isn't it amazing how beautiful a snowdrop can be if you look underneath its white mantle. I have lightened the shot a little to show off the intricacies of the centre and the veining in the petals, but I hope that does not detract too much from the image. A blue sky as backdrop would have been perfect though!
