Dialect
I got the idea for this blip yesterday when I read somewhere the sentence "a language is a dialect with an army and a navy."
In Broadfield Park there is a monument, erected in 1900 and recently restored, remembering writers who used the Lancashire dialect. It has quotations from four such writers along with their names, dates of birth and death and a carved likeness.
This quotation is from Margaret Rebecca Lahee who lived in Rochdale from 1831 - 1895.
