"MHTPOTHTA" - "MATERNITY"
2004
George Wylie
Rottenrow, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow
The lower half of a giant nappy pin, marking the site of the former maternity hospital on Rottenrow. This landscaped area is now part of the university campus.
A deliberate decision to come here and Blip, to record something of the work going on following the fire in the James Weir Building last Tuesday 7 February. Many family memories associated with this place. I hope as much can be saved as possible. Thinking of family, friends and former colleagues affected by the fire.
Well, if yesterday was busy, today possibly capped it - day of culture and surprises.
GOMA : Alan Dimmick photography exhibition, but it opens tomorrow until 13 May. I will be back.
Streetlevel, Trongate 103 : "What Presence!" - The Rock Photography of Harry Papadopoulos. Well worth a look, on until Sat 25 February.
Met #2 as we considered a purchase of a Prince Charlie Jacket and other kilt accessories.
Blipping around the University of Strathclyde.
Tea and chat with a former colleague from the University. Much to catch up on - it had been over twenty years.
Then, a pre-birthday treat with my sister. No idea where I was going. Ended up at St Jude's for "Afternoon Tea with a Twist". Glass of fizz, cocktails and yummy cakes. Thanks J, a lovely idea.
And finally, destination Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. RSNO and Paul Rissman presenting another of the Naked Classics series. Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet". An excellent description of the piece during the first half and a full performance after the interval.
