Look over there!

A good day for a walk, so two dogs, three little boys, their mum, their granny, my daughter and I set off up The Knock. This local hill has numerous paths that lead all over and around it. We took one of the gentle paths which winds slowly round part of the hill and gradually meets up with another path - this one requiring a short extra burst of energy to get you to the summit !

Once there the view is a full 360 degrees, stunning in any direction. In the summer, there is purple heather to see and smell and blaeberries to pick and eat, but they do stain your fingers deep red! Today, however it was old heathery tussocks which both dogs found to be ideal for digging under and a bit of a cool wind to keep the boys running around.

In the centre of the fairly level area at the top is an indicator which stands about 0ne metre high with a circular metal plaque on its surface. This has most of the mountains named, along with their distances in all directions. It is really interesting to spend some time studying it, as it is very informative. There are also some well placed wooden seats providing rest and a chance to take a longer look at the lovely scenery. However, the two older boys thought they would rather sit on top of the indicator rather than on boring old seats!
