Mute swan

Today's the day ............................ to race the swans

It was such a lovely morning here today as I walked to work along the path by the river. It was so balmy that I had to take off my gloves - and then my scarf. There were two swans - a male and female - and we were heading in the same direction.

They didn't appear to be making any effort at all but they were going much faster than me. I tried to keep up with them for a while but soon gave up as they glided serenely on.

They obviously were not on their way to work. Perhaps they had something much more exciting planned ............................?
