Inappropriate Happiness
Happy Valentine's Day!!
I walked into a wonderful surprise at the office today. Chris is out of town so we made dinner plans to celebrate later in the week when he's back, so I was truly surprised by the dozen red roses.
After sending me roses last year (internationally!!) when I was in Scotland (and we weren't even "officially" together yet!!), I really didn't think Chris could top himself. But the surprises continued :)
Unfortunately, I've been sick for over a week now with bad asthma, so as a last resort I got prescribed a hefty dose of prednisone-which, as those of you who have endured it know, is a necessary evil to get healthy again. Why is this relevant to getting roses?
Well, prednisone is a powerful steroid, thus yielding powerful side effects. A highlight of the lengthy list: trouble sleeping, inappropriate happiness, and most importantly: extreme mood swings.
So just how did I react when I got a dozen red roses on my desk? I cried (see 2/2/12). But not just one glistening tear falling on the velvety petals like dew. I mean...running to the bathroom and heaving out a few good sobs. And that my friend, is the prednisone's fault.
Did I mention a coworker was present when this tearful outbreak occurred? I believe I sputtered : "It's okay..I'm..fine..I'm actually..really happy...I don't really.. know...why this...is happening." He left, promptly.
Despite the drama, a wonderful day. Not to mention I looked like a rock star intern at work! Thank you Chris!!
