A parcel was waiting for me at the post office today, all the way by airplane from Shanghai and then mailed in Vancouver. Eleven of these cuddly stamps had been stuck diagonally across the box, in a row, not unlike the way youngsters go waddling after their parents.

Parcels that come in the mail convey something that an email somehow just cannot. I suppose it's all the effort that goes into it: getting the gift, wrapping it, going to the post office, licking the stamps (although these are self-adhesive)...
