Red Squirrel

Bubbles, Big and Small..

Finally today we had what was tantamount to a heatwave - by early afternoon it was +6c! (I was frantically hunting for my bikini, lol!)
At last there was drip, drip, dripping where the so far solid snow started to melt (please let it continue ...) and the hose to Toms water trough defrosted suffiiciently to turn it on. The water in that half-full trough had eventually frozen to a solid block of ice, layer by layer (and I was sick of carting buckets of water to the stable for him to drink). So it was a relief to be able to use the hose to fill the top half of the trough, which would encourage the frozen ice to melt too. As the trough started to fill, the water seeped down below the ice, which did start to melt a bit as expected - I started to see some interesting effects with the water bubbling between the ice layers. And I spotted these two large bubbles in the ice, with smaller ones embedded within them. NEAT! So I chose that as my blip.
To see it best GO LARGE!

The effect of THESE BUBBLES also took my eye, as it reminds me of frogspawn!

I blipped early yesterday, then later there was a lovely sky with vapour trails as the sun set - my first chance of snapping one with the snow still on the fields - SO I DID!
