Bikes

Amsterdam. Land of windmills, canals, tulips and two other things I just can't recall :-)

Amsterdam is so flat everyone seems to ride a bike. The bike riders really don't give you a chance to get out the way, we've had a few near misses already! If you're not dodging bikes you're leaping out the way of cars and trams. You really have to keep your wits about you. No idea how people leaving 'coffee shops' survive!

Thanks to tour guides, we're learning a lot about Amsterdam. Apparently one car per week ends up in a canal! There are training courses available on how to escape a submerged car and there is talk of hammers being required in all cars. Wonder if we'll see it happen. Hope not, although it would make a good blip!
