Onlookers cheered as Gertie crossed the finish line with her record setting time. Spreading her wings like a...... bird, she clearly showed how she can go with two webbed feet!

Gertie was assisted greatly by todays icy conditions. Like a well tuned engine, she too goes quicker in lower temperatures. She was also helped by the fact that the canal was frozen over in most places!
