A Different Famous Five
In the UK lots of people know the names of the group that accompanied Scott in his ill-fated trek to the South Pole (Wilson, Bowers, Oates and Evans), but very few (I would suggest) can name any of the four Norwegians who accompanied Roald Amundsen and his dog teams to the Pole.
They were Olav Bjaaland, Helmer Hanssen, Sverre Hassel and Oscar Wisting.
These four plus Amundsen (in the middle) stand just outside the Fram Museum on the Bygdoy Peninsula looking southwards along the Oslo Fjord.

UPDATE: When I saw (and blipped) this group I didn't realise quite how recent it was. The statue was unveiled on 14th December 2011 to mark the centenary of Amundsen reaching the South Pole. More info.
