Glass Puffin

Been up to see our dearest friends in Preston this afternoon for a good catch up and some tea.

I made this stained glass window some years ago now for them as a Christmas present. Catherine is a mad puffin fan.

I took up stained glassed work as an evening class activity some 20 odd years ago it appeal to me because not only was it a from of art but a very practical hands on craft thing too. You have to design then cut then, lead then solder. Results can be amazing. They have promised me that if they ever move they will take it with them. It is a bit of a dormant skill at the moment but I do hope to resurrect it some time.

It's a passable shot but it doesn't show of the swirls in the black glass that give the impression of feathers or the distinctive orange stripped glass of the beak.
