Before...

..talking about my day I would like to raise awareness for the unpunished disappearing, rape, torture and murder of women in Ciudad Juarez, which is a town close to the US-border. Until today close to 1000 girls and women (and the estimate by the local population is a lot higher even) became victims of fatal violence and a huge number of them was kidnapped on their way home from the sweatshops. The government of the state of Chihuaha not only refuses to investigate and impose punishments on the killers, but blames the women for dressing inappropriately or being outside of their homes at inadequate times, just like the Catholic church. If, and this is a very rare case, a supsect is taken to prison, he is being released within a few days at most.

Please, take 5 minutes of your time and inform yourself about this very important issue, since the immense violence against women is not restricted to Ciudad Juarez, but is a systematical problem in the North of México.

Today my friend Paci from couchsurfing took me out of the city for a nice roadtrip. First we had breakfast-quesadillas in a place called "Trés Marías" which is a popular weekend-meeting-point for Mexico City's motorbike-community, so >I got to see some badass-bikes and bikers ;-)

After that we went to a very lovely town called "Tepoztlán", that is one of the "pueblos mágicos" in México, which are places with very high spiritual meaning since pre-hispanic times and which supposingly have a lot of energy, in this case it is said that the energy comes from the close-by mountain. Simply put: This place is stunning and I am sure I will come back while I am here.

In the evening we went to Cuernavaca, which used to be the summer-residence of Hernán Cortés (conqueror of Mexico).

Besides the very beautiful places I have visited today I was also impressed by seing the outskirts of Mexico City, which are basically slums with no infrastructure, where the newcomers from the countryside settle. This country could not possibly have any more contrasts than it already does.
