ode to old fashioned...
...cross stitching
miniature... some that my grandmother did - if you can but imagine the tiny - and very patient needling this piece took her to do...
this is actually a small portfolio of sorts - it's hinged and folds open to reveal a placement on either side to insert 2 very tiny photos of loved ones... it was kept in a fabric type of envelope that you could lay on your dresser or tuck into your purse if you wanted... total size of the piece is no larger than perhaps an inch by an inch - very small - i simply cannot fathom how she completed the work here... but i know in going through some of her belongings that my mom still has - there are these mini stretchers that she used and she owned many different sized magnifying glasses as well - i suppose one would need those in order to work on something of this nature.
i have done cross stitch projects in my own time - nothing on this scale of course... they have all been larger and after a while of staring at the squares - my eyes start seeing things a bit fuzzy... yay to those who have the ability to do work like this... to my grandma who left this one behind for me to enjoy - and relish the memory of her handiwork - to share with you - and to make for...
a
happy day.....
