Dead Ringers

Bell-pulls in Edinburgh. The tenements around Canonmills all have these old mechanical doorbells which were attached to bells in the flats by wires. They've long-since gone out of use and been replaced with characterless electric intercom buzzers, but the old plates remain. Around the corner from here, there's one door where the intercom list of names matches the bell-pull names, with the names on old-fashioned engraved plates like these on both - I like that! But these knackered old knockers ringers look better :)

A day at work with an early train home to collect from school. The train was in plenty of time so I diverted the bike up Spott Road and along by Wester Broomhouse, in the hope that the clouds would part to splash sunlight over the view of West Barns and Belhaven - but it was not to be. Still, a a fun whizz down the hill to school, so worth the haul up.

Scouts tonight for the older boys, so I've got the little ones down before the Scouts crash back through the door. Shhhhh!
