It's not finished yet

OK - last time I went to Barcelona in 2002, they hadn't quite finished the Sagrada Familia. They still haven't finished it!

Nipped on the metro to go get a closer look - and they have been doing some building work in the last 10 years, just not very much.

The Temple Expiatori de la Sarada Familia - to give it its proper big mouthful of a name, was started in 1882 then they thought it would be a good idea to ask Gaudi if he'd like a crack at designing the oddest looking church on this earth. So in 1883 he redesigned it and then lived as a recluse on site for 16 years. Its estimated completion date is 2026 - centenary year of Gaudi's death. That's the date of my next trip!

If they don't hurry up and finish it tho - it's likely to go out of fashion ;)

I still think it looks like melted wax...philistine that I am!
