It's got to go....

It was my birthday today. I have been lucky enough to celebrate all of my significant birthdays in wonderful places doing amazing things. The downside to this means that I am usually working, which means I am away from family and friends which can be quite hard. I sometimes try to forget its my birthday till I get home again. However, it is amazing how generous people are, strangers even, when they find out that its your birthday. The best one was in Borneo. Somehow my colleagues had found out I was turning 21 and arranged balloons and a cake and we sat in the middle of the rainforest, with a couple of gallons of freshly brewed rice wine. I to this day have no idea how they made a cake without an oven.....

Anyway, we went walking about in one of the game reserves we are hoping to do some work in. As I said its all pretty grey at the moment, this being winter. so to see this flowering bush in the middle of it all was absolutely wonderful. A rainbow of colours, so refreshing in the gloom.

I have a feeling its not endemic though, so it shall be being turfed out at the next available opportunity. Sorry.
