Cardinals in a White-out

The snow is really coming down. Streets are slick, and the tires are spinning. Good day to stay inside and watch football. ("What do you mean...there's no football?") That's right...not until next week. (Go Tom Brady!...Go Wes Welker! (my last name!)...Go Pats!!!)

I cleared a path for my dogs in my church dress shoes...and now my feet are cold. I grabbed my camera, and waited at the kitchen window. A dark-eyed junco (Is there a light-eyed junco?) posed on a branch for me. 10-12 shots worth. The falling snow made it lkook more white than dark.

I saw the cardinals out in my neighbors apple tree. Such a long way off! I took 6 shots from inside just in case they flew away. I'm sure it looked quite dorkish...but I draped my wind-breaker over my head to protect my lens, and inched toward the tree...hoping to be inconspicuous. With one hand holding my jacket...I only had my right hand to hold the camera. Difficult.

The pair let me take 6 more before the little missus took off.

Will probably have to use my snowblower for the first time this winter. I hope she starts. In 3 weeks...we hope to be in Florida. Ready.
