Wind Marks

I love the shapes and sculpting marks the wind makes on the surface of the snow, especially the cornices that ride on the crest of the higher peaks. These are quite close to me, and quite small really, but fun to look at all the same.

Another bluebird day, with lots of activity in the area. We looked at at old photos going back to 30's when the resort was begun, carving a ski area out of cattle and sheep country.

I always look for my Mom in such photos, and I do the same at Mt Rainier. She was an amazing athlete and came here during her college years at Washington State University to ski, at least once anyway. And she skied and worked at Mt Rainier. But she was not famous - the photos are of famous people for the most part.
