Plus ça change...

Like life, but with all the colour sucked out

Not a comment on my day, just something I remember hearing someone say and it jumped into my head when I saw how this had come out. It wasn't meant to be a monochrome abstract - just a picture of some bright bright red tulip petals in a ray of light. But I prefer it this way, as it happens.

A kind of busy day dotting about getting jobs finished, and a fair amount of pacing around waiting until it's time to go and pick Mr B up from the airport.

In bird news, a nuthatch on the table today, enjoying the new fat ball I put out - encased in a hand made cage of garden wire to stop some big thug stealing the whole thing. In living in France news, the advantages of the sexism I experience here (compared to the UK, I'm sure it's way less sexist than a lot of countries) was brought home to me again when the nice man at the wood and glass cutting desk in the DIY store carried my large (1m square) piece of thick glass to the till and then waited while I paid and carried it out to the car for me - all this even though he had a big queue of folk waiting for him (but they were all men, so nodded and smiled their approval when he said he'd carry it out for me and then come back and serve them, even though they were clearly all ahead of me in the queue). Actually, having carried it into the house from the car, it wasn't that heavy at all.

That aside it was a day of painting, cleaning and baking. With a brand new apple pie recipe invented from Katherine's description of something she had at school. It was pronounced delicious. Which is always nice to hear.
