So, Lady.......
what's in that bucket?
Hmm???????
I was a tad (or more) disappointed when Husband drove me to Irondequoit Bay on Lake Ontario, to see if there were any swans. Drat. Not one in sight. I hopped out and saw many, many ravenous Mallards that were nearly as plentiful as the Gulls swooping and diving overhead.
I hopped out and scattered a few scoops of cracked corn, and took photos of the ducks eating, Fiddlesticks. I wanted Swans!
It was so windy and chilly, my hands felt as though they were sticking to the metal bail on the bucket! I stood around for a bit, then went back to the car. Husband and I sat and talked for quite awile when I noticed something white down about a hundred feet from the car.
I quickly grabbed my bucket and went down to see two Swans swimming near (guess what?) more Mallards! I opened the bucket and began broadcasting corn as far as I could. And, like magic, the Swans began to come ever closer! A large Cygnet joined them and I was thrilled to get a few shots before I gave up my last scoop of cracked corn.
I took photos a couple of years ago of the Swans, Canada Geese, and ducks at this same place. They were all so hungry at that time, they were eating from my palm as they swarmed me! Now, these birds were so shy....I'm not certain, but apparently, the mild winter we are having this year has made the birds able to get more than enough food, causing them to be much less bold!
