walking home yesterday I found this upside down sitting on some grass in front of some flats I pass

A bit of an investigation revealed that it had come from a small cluster a few feet away all the rest were damaged but this one was in virtually perfect condition. Fearlessly I picked it up and carried it home.

Strangely I was greeted less than enthusiastically but ignoring this lukewarm reception I took a series of shots - I was particularly interested in the gills.

Tonight I took another little series, using an extension tube and putting the camera under the head of the tripod peering at the mushroom. Interesting how it's changed in twentyfour hours
