Why did I come in here?

By Bootneck

I did this on Porpoise.

This a brooch made by Maralyn Reed-Wood. She produced these little beauties in the late 90s under the name "Shards." She has a technique which mixes metal and pottery in beautiful ways. Despite doing a great deal of research I have been unable to contact her in order to discover if she still makes her brooches. They may be found occasionally on E-Bay, but rarely elsewhere.
I love the way she has used metal filings in amongst the rocks to give the impression of sand under the water.

If you read yesterday's blip and enjoyed the history of my PhD, you may find the following amusing.

Are you sitting comfortably? Part two.

Mrs B and I were sitting at dinner with about a dozen quietly mannered folk when some poor unsuspecting lady asked me what I did with my time. Mrs B isn't very accurate with a throwing knife and was too distant to do anything more than emit a pleading "Noooooo!" To no avail, the fool launched into his tale about the background to his theoretical gynecological studies. The ladies all thought it was a hoot, the men were slightly non-plussed as usual.

Mrs B thought she could still show her face in public until at the end of the tale I reached inside my jacket, pulled out a pair of surgical gloves, started to pull them on and enquired if anybody felt the need for my services. Well the shrieking from the ladies made conversation impossible, the men were speechless and Mrs B had to be restrained, by waiters, from attacking me with a cheese board.

Now you know why I have to chew through my leather restraints each day to produce my Blip photos. I am available for panto.
