Ticking Away the Moments

Notre Dame

Just back from our weekend in Paris, one of my favourite places!

We had a day of sightseeing on Saturday and ended up walking from our hotel near Gare du Montparnasse to the Jardin du Luxembourg and then up to the Palais du Luxembourg. After that, it was time to consult the map, get our bearings and then head up to St Sulpice. That took us past some very upmarket shops but I resisted lots of very lovely handbags and boots!

Then onwards towards the river to Notre Dame. We've been before but there is so much to see it is always worth another look. Once we'd walked round the cathedral we were starving so decided to go back over the bridge to St Michel where there are some fantastic little restaurants, all desperate for you to go in and eat.

We chose a very French restaurant (lots of Greek restaurants round there as well as Indian and Japanese) and had a delicious meal on the fixed price menu after blowing the budget on Friday night at a fantastic fish restaurant!

Then it was time to get back to our hotel to get ready to watch the match - we met up with friends, bar hopped a few times on our way to the stadium and managed to get there just in time for the 20.45 kick off. Horrible stadium, with an athletics track round the pitch so all the seats were miles away from the rugby action. Pretty poor game too, we lost 33-10 and deserved to.

But we've had a great weekend in Paris so it doesn't matter!
