A Bird in the Hand.....
This afternoon found me visiting Mendon Ponds Park. This is a most magical place in the winter, when Chickadees, Nuthatches, and Titmice will land on one's hand for seeds! As nature's pickin's get slim, the little birds become bold, landing on fingers and palms just long enough to snatch a seed and whisk away to crack it open in a nearby tree!
I must admit, getting any good photos today was a trick. It felt so bitterly cold with a bit of wind blowing and I had no gloves to put on. For a time, I was certain my fingers were going to freeze onto the camera!
Another problem is that I am extremely left-handed, with little dexterity with my right hand. Trying to hold seed in the left and snap with the right was a challenge! The camera certainly had to be set to auto to capture anything. Also remember, these sweet little birds are moving......fast!
It would have been so much easier with another person with me and using my fast telephoto lens on the Nikon. Ah well, live and learn!
