Compressor Blades
A little composition with a few old compressor blades.
These compressor blades made from the specialist alloy Inconel 718 are one of the spectacles of modern engineering. They will rotate at around 36,000 RPM be exposed to temperatures in the hundreds of degree's, all for millions of hours, without service.
Just as amazing are these Rolls Royce blades shapes, the blades twist across their length with a varying airfoil shape, to a more chunky base. I find these curves and how the light plays off them very interesting indeed. Another interest is the alloys colour tint, there is a slight hint of the nickels gold colour still present which captures your eye.
