Finlaystone Big Adventure

We went to visit Grandpa and Auntie L today - Grandpa and hubby were off to watch the Glasgow Warriors get humped, while me and Auntie L took the kids out for some fresh air at Finlaystone Country Estate, near Langbank.

It was a Big Adventure alright - the recent bad weather had felled about 400 trees on the Estate, and there were a few whoppers down across the woodland trails. We had to do quite a bit of climbing over tree-trunks and old walls, tramping through the undergrowth and wading through burns to get round/under/over the fallen trees and re-join the paths. The kids LOVED this, despite the freezing temperatures, and it was great to see them so excited about being outdoors instead of having their heads buried in books or a DS.

And of course, there were a few kids' play areas to be found, and a little tiny doll museum, so that made it all the better! :-)
