sunrise over the Sea of Galilee

Today we traveled North near the border with Lebanon, and visited Banias Park where we walked along the Hermon River (one of the headwaters of the Jordan River). Here are remains of an ancient city and a temple to Pan the god of nature, built where the stream springs from a cave at the base of Mount Hermon. The city was called Panias, which was later pronounced Banias in Arabic. It is an ancient and beautiful place.
