Boredom???
I think I've blipped about this before, but I just have to say it again....my pet peeve is the phrase "I'm bored". I heard that phrase today from my youngest after church. I listed a whole bunch of choices to him....most of which took advantage of the vast array of toys I reminded him about. "How about the 2 sets of marble runs you have, how about the potato head that has a million parts, how about army men and blocks, legos, cars, your new Cruncher the dinosaur that needs training, magnetix....." My list continued, knowing he just wanted his iTouch that I banned from him for the day for not listening. This is his only 'currency' I can take away right now when there are behavior issues. He is blessed beyond belief and I needed to remind him of that. We all need that reminder sometimes and I can't think of a better quote than this one I found:
"Life is never boring but some people choose to be bored. The concept of boredom entails an inability to use up present moments in a personally fulfilling way. Boredom is a choice; something you visit upon yourself, and it is another of those self-defeating items that you can eliminate from your life." ---Wayne Dyer
Landon, in the end, settled for these cardboard blocks, army men and a rubber band gun. Kids these days feel that you're here to entertain them and if you're not, an electronic should. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr Bring back the imagination!!!!!!!
