The only flaw in the plan to put the children to bed early, allowing the adults to dine in peace and black-tie splendour was that early to rise logically and automatically follows from early to bed. And, of course, the early to bed part applied only to the bairns (and some of the more sensible adults). Others not so much. Not the ones sipping champagne in the hot tub after midnight. No. Not the ones with the whisky in the snooker room making an embarassing display of failing to pot anything. Definitely not the two fools who had decided that it would be a fine run pback to Limekilns on a bicycle. And not the one who thought it would be OK to do it on his single speed. But we did it.
