Sunset with Romantic Ruins
Well, today was a completely new experience for us. Teenage daughter decided to take her parents for a walk! The route was one she had done with school, and apart from driving to and from the starting point - and even then she told us where to park - she was directing the whole route. I didn't have to look at the map once in 3 hours.
There wasn't much opportunity to dawdle and take photos, plus the light was pretty bleargh until right at the end of the walk when the sun decided to set romantically behind the ruins of Byland Abbey. Unfortunately tired legs were set on getting home by then so I wasn't able to make the detour necessary to get a better composition. However, this was a day where blipping took second place to family.
And I should add special thanks to the English Heritage warden at Byland. Unable to sell us hot drinks from the machine EH provided, he made us some with his own kettle. Much appreciated!
