Mothman

The Mothman Cometh!

This little figurine represents one of the more bizarre apparitions that have been seen by human beings and links in with yesterdays blip about reality and how we see things.

Mothman is described as a giant man-creature with huge wings and glowing red eyes that briefly inhabited Point Pleasant in West Virginia in the mid 1960s. The sightings have been connected to the collapse of the Silver Bridge in 1967 where 46 people died and some people think that Mothman was some sort of harbinger of this event. Some skeptics have tried to explain the sightings as being of an owl but I am not so sure. It is interesting to note that one of the original witnessess claims to have seen Mothman hundreds of times and thinks it wants to communicate with her.

Something that I believe can be attributed to a mistaken sighting of an owl is, erm, Owlman, seen in the photo looming in the background and is described by a 14 year old girl who was camping in a wood near an old church with a friend as:-

"a figure that looked like an owl as big as a man, with pointed ears and red eyes. The girls reported that the creature flew up into the air, revealing black pincer-like claws."

Now I am not saying a 14 year old girl camping in a wood near an old church with a friend might exaggerate the size of something that startled her but if you have ever seen an Eagle Owl they are truly enormous. I held a male one once (females are bigger) and from standing on my arm at waist height the owl came up over my head. That is one big boid.

I have just found a photo of it and heck, I am exaggerating its size too. It is still one big boid.
