Spathiphyllum
Pardon? I hear you say. Well, in English, Peace Lily.
I have taken the next bit from Wikipedia:-
Several species are popular indoor houseplants. Spathiphyllum cleans indoor air of many environmental contaminants, including benzene, formaldehyde, and other pollutants. It cleans best at one plant per 10 m². It lives best in shade and needs little sunlight to thrive. It is watered approximately once a week. The soil is best left moist but only needs watering if the soil is dry.
Our Peace Lily was not bought to clean the air, it was bought as a present to my Mum from a friend who she invited around for a meal. Either way it sits very well in the hallway and is very pleasing to the eye.
