as i was catching the train back to uni this morning, i remembered another day of parting which created excitement, fear, anxiety and adventure.
2 years ago today i left for africa for an 8 month trip to work in zambia in a community street project working with those affected by HIV/AIDS.
looking back to that day brought a lot of those feelings back. leaving my family, at 18, future unknown yet God had gone ahead and prepared a way and prepared my heart.
i am thankful i took that leap. i learnt a great deal not only about myself but about the people i met. it was a life changing trip: and i have already been back!
getting the train today, i was reminded of something i learnt in zambia that first time.........communicate true value. as in, spend time with those who are with you NOW, don't be fake or superficial - be real. express true feelings and be genuine.
thats what has been on my heart today as uni work has been done.
