The distance from Cottesloe to Rottnest Island is only 12 km

In January there is a channel swim to Rottnest which is becoming very well known by the long distance swimming brigade.

Today even the average swimmer felt he could make it across, where in normal times he wouldnt even contemplate it.

I am happy if I make it to the pilon , which is the only remains from a long jetty which was very popular in the mid 1900's.

This section of the beach is where I swim after my morning walk .
