Scavenger hunt

Our grandson's social studies teacher gave his class an extra credit project, sending them on a scavenger hunt to several Cleveland neighborhoods. The assignment was to visit 10 different locations and take a picture in each one, so I took my camera and went along for the ride...a fairly slow, snowy ride on slippery streets. We visited the Coventry neighborhood, Little Italy, and the Peter B. Lewis building at Case Western Reserve University, but most of our time was spent in Lake View Cemetery. There we had to search out six different monuments and take Michael's picture next to each one. In the blip he is standing next to the grave marker of Ray Chapman, the only Major League baseball player to be killed by a pitched ball.

Chapman was an outstanding player who was well liked in Cleveland. After his tragic death in 1920, his grave marker was purchased with contributions from his stricken fans. We also took Mike's picture next to the grave stone of Eliot Ness, in front of the Wade Chapel, with the memorial of President James A. Garfield in the background, and a couple of others. All-in-all, it was an interesting afternoon and a great opportunity to spend time with my daughter, grandson, and granddaughter.
