Half Moon Bay

Today's the day .......................... to go down to the sea

Every now and then I just have to go and see the sea. Although I live in the English Lake District surrounded by beautiful lakeland scenery - there's something in me that longs to smell the salty air and watch the waves crash on to a beach.

So today we went to our nearest bit of sea at Heysham just south of Morecambe. I'm well aware that there are plenty of people who wouldn't classify Morecambe Bay as proper sea - but today it was giving a very good impression of it! The wind was whipping up the waves into white horses out in the bay and I think the ferry that was leaving for the Isle of Man would have had quite a stormy crossing.

These two men were digging for cockles. Possibly not a good idea on this beach because just out of sight to the left of the ferry terminal buildings, there's the Heysham Nuclear Power Station .........................
