TIMINGS EVERYTHING

This ( diving) is a very important phase of a Shags life as it dives to good depths and for an average of 30 seconds a dive ! I have plenty of pix with the resulting catch ( see previous blips) but I liked this one for its importance in the feeding process.

The shags can only fish for about 30 minutes otherwise they get water-logged and cant fly. For those who observe them will noticed they give themselves a shake - this signals the end of their current fishing period - they then take off into the wind. They seek a rock and then one observes the cross-like behaviour which is the drying of the wing stage.
