Happy New Year!
No.2 son has a new bed. Well, he has no.1 son's old cot bed anyway. He is delighted with himself and slept in it for the first time last night. All in all he slept pretty well, so we're calling it a success. This is both rascals sitting in the new bed this morning.
No.1 son slept right through last night and declared himself to be very disappointed this morning. He was hoping the midnight fireworks would wake him up so he could see them. I on the other hand was not hoping the fireworks would wake him up, so I had to fake disappointment for him!
Although the kids slept OK, I was up in the night feeling sick and grotty (there's been something going around the CleanSlate household) so I've been a bit wiped out today.
We've been to Chester zoo today and no.1 son has been at his rascally best, he didn't want to see any of the animals and just grumped around the place, whinging. Brilliant. Happy New Year and all that! We consoled ourselves with the thought that if we had stayed cooped up in the house, his mood would have been much harder to bear!
By teatime we had truly reached 'that' stage.
Me: 'What vegetables do you want with your dinner?'
Him: 'Peas'
Him (on receiving his tea) (and wailing): 'I dooooon't like peas'
Me: 'You asked for peas'
Him (indignantly): 'NO I DID NOT'
Me: 'You know how I feel when you lie to me'
Him: 'I'm NOT lyyyyyying'
Me: 'Let's not whinge'
Him: 'I'm nooooo0t whiiiiiinging'
You get the idea.
Tomorrow may not be the start of a new year, but at least it will be a new day!
