This is blip...

Because I went out for a New Year's Day walk along the Water of Leith and took a few pictures of the fallen tree that currently forms a natural bridge across the river and, in theory at least, blocks the Water of Leith footpath. I say in theory as the signs saying 'path closed' and the tape blocking the way at either end of the affected section were being completely ignored by everyone this afternoon, including people with young children, bikes and even kiddy buggies.
Then I walked to the Dean Cemetery and had a bit of a wander around the graveyard taking pictures of some of the gravestones and memorials. Started taking pictures of some of the faces adorning some of the graves - angels and animals - and then noticed there were a number of busts of individuals, including photographic pioneer David Octavius Hill and Sir Thomas Bouch, the disgraced railway engineer who designed the first Tay Rail Bridge and died soon after its disastrous collapse in 1879. Perhaps I could blip a famous Victorian? Some of the stories recorded on the graves were very interesting - one commemorated a David Reginald Younger who was awarded a posthumous Victoria Cross after action in the Boer War. Another told the story of John Irving who died in heroic circumstances exploring the North West Passage with Franklin's ill-fated expedition. Less of a picture but more of a story.
So there were plenty of potential blips in the camera as I made my way home, when I spotted this in the window of a cake shop in Roseburn and knew that everything else would have to wait for another day! I assume these are both cakes. Which only leaves the question.
