Countdown
I arrived back in London safely with Fred in the early morning. The pets were all very pleased to see us and the flat was all ship-shape. We treated ourselves to chips and beans at the Portuguese caff then headed home to chill out. In the evening, we decided that we had enough energy to head into London to see the fireworks. At first we didn't care for the crowd, especially around Waterloo Station - lots of drunk folk stumbling around with smashed glass under foot and there was an edge to the air. However, we strode forward and headed to Waterloo Bridge where there was security and plenty of police. It felt very safe there. People were drinking, but happily and not to excess. There were a few folk off their heads on one substance or another, but they weren't causing any trouble.
We arrived on the bridge at 10pm, so there were a couple of hours to kill. We didn't wish to take out our phones to play Scrabble in case we attracted mugger-type folk. With a crowd so large, we wished to be cautious. We played lots of word games, I Spy, Scissors Paper Stone and danced about to keep ourselves warm. It started raining at one point and we almost headed home. There was a good atmosphere at the countdown and... [turn to next blip]
