Oh, the People You'll Meet
On my way to my meeting this morning, I noticed that part of a tree had been trimmed and was just lying on the path. But, because I was running a bit late, I couldn't snap a few shots.
Lo and behold, it was still there after my meeting! So of course I crouched down, camera in hand, and began shooting.
After my first few shots, I heard a voice behind me say "hello". It was a girl I had never seen before. She smiled and said "we have the same hobby!" I laughed and she said "i see strange things and take pictures of them." I agreed with her and she continued on her way to class, wishing me a good day. I waved goodbye and said the same.
A few more shots, and I stood up to head back to my car. Only to realize that I had forgotten to get my prescription filled while uptown. Darnit. So, I turned around and headed back up the hill.
On one of the benches, I noticed a girl seemed to be watching me. She took her cigarette out of her mouth and said "That is the most awesome show, ever!" (referencing my Avenue Q shirt). I laughed and agreed. She asked me who my favorite character was. I couldn't decide. We ended up talking for about half an hour speaking mostly of musicals and their movie equivalents.
As if that wasn't enough, a guy passed us while we were talking and asked if we were registered to vote. We said we were and he, too, complimented my shirt. Terry and I both laughed and remarked that the shirt was what had gotten us talking. I like to think we made that guy's day a bit brighter.
The lesson for today: people do notice what you're wearing. Especially if it's Avenue Q! :D
